Hunger as a Metaphor for Love, Dream of the Endless Needs a Hug, Hob Gadling wants to give him one, Non-sexual Intimacy, Episode Codas, Surrealism, Dream POV, Slow Burn, Not Actually Unrequited Love (They’re Just Idiots), or: it’s okay to have dreams about your platonic best friend so long as he never finds out about them
“Happy to help.” Death grins, downing the rest of her pint as she rises. “Now I’ll leave you boys to it. I’ve got to get back to work, and you’ve got a lot to talk about!” She wiggles her fingers cheerily and heads for the door; there’s a great gust of wind as she opens it. Hob blinks, and she’s gone. He sighs.
All pages of the comic are pen and ink drawings on kraft paper, coloured sometimes with pencils and finished digitally with Procreate.
I made this because 1) @chubsonthemoon’s fic could not leave my mind, 2) my Dream’s plant facets AU could not leave my mind, and 3) I wanted to draw eldritch banyan tree sex, bet they’d be really good at shibari, eh?
Tuira Kayapó brandished her machete in the face of a government official who was trying to convince indigenous leaders to accept a mega-dam project in the Amazon, 1989
“Electricity won’t give us food. We need the rivers to flow freely. Don’t talk to us about relieving our ‘poverty’ – we are the richest people in Brazil. We are Indians.”
part of kayapó’s speech during this event
also! she’s still alive! that sort of thing is always worth pointing out to show that we really aren’t too far removed from events like this! here’s a 2019 photo of her:
2. If you had to give up your keyboard and write your stories exclusively by hand, could you do it? If you already write everything by hand, a) are you a wizard and b) pen or pencil?
I… could. I do already do some writing by hand. It would make what is already a very slow process even slower. I’d have to type my stories up to share them, though, and if I couldn’t share them I probably wouldn’t bother. Pen, also. Erasing takes too much time, just cross out and move on.
11. Do you believe in the old advice to “kill your darlings?” Are you a ruthless darling assassin? What happens to the darlings you murder? Do you have a darling graveyard? Do you grieve?
I probably would believe in this if I wrote anything other than fanfiction. Fanfiction is supposed to be indulgent. There are no darlings to kill, only nurture. I’m not going pro, here, just putting my blorbos in situations. If there is something that isn’t working, I generally figure it out early on so it’s not a darling. When that happens, I take it out and put it in my graveyard document. No writing is ever wasted, it just hasn’t found a home yet.
